Driven by ambition, I am always aiming to do more for my community. It is therefore not surprising that the step in politics would ever be made. Politics is a tool to represent the interests of individuals, companies and the people. Simply, politics is all about servant leadership.
From my experience that I have gained in recent years, through the various organizations that I have contributed to, it has become clear to me that politics is the place where strategic long-term development issues can be solved.
I have therefore joined a political party of which I am convinced, will really give me the opportunity to jointly solve various challenges that currently arise in our society.
I have been nominated for the 2020 parliamentary election to represent the interests of all Surinamese, regardless of religion, ethnicity or social class. Together we will work and achieve the goals that I have set as a priority.
There are 3 focus areas, policy areas in political terms, that have my full attention. I have a personal connection with each of these 3 aspects for many years. My focus areas are:
1. Talent development
2. Young entrepreneurship
3. Study opportunities for everyone.
Talent development: It would be great if every citizen could grow with his / her talents and in that way contribute to society and be appreciated for who they are and what they can do. Talent development is used as a strategy to increase strengths or talents of all of us, in order to strengthen social participation and citizenship. It is pleasant for every citizen if they are able to exploit their own talent. This provides benefits in many areas, including in the workplace, family or in the sports world. In general, these citizens can also participate better.
“Talent must be discovered, developed, supervised and must enjoy the necessary guidance”
Young Entrepreneurship: When talent has been developed, they should be stimulated to be able to support someone by means of the talent.
Let’s take an example of a hairdresser. Thanks to a professional approach, you can start your own company. This allows the entrepreneur to meet his or her own needs, but also makes a contribution to society by creating employment. At the same time, the government also earns through the tax that this entrepreneur pays. I believe that young people in particular should be taken out of their comfort zone and should be supported in developing their entrepreneurial qualities. “Live today like many people don’t want to live, so you can live in a few years like many people never can!”
Based on this vision, a link will be made between talent and young entrepreneurship. From the political point of view, together with the relevant stakeholders, we will work hard to give extra input to talent development, professionalization and to develop them into young entrepreneurs. If you make your hobby your job, then you are probably already good at your job. But if you start a business for yourself because you want to do something completely different, it doesn’t hurt to follow a short study first. Although a diploma is not always required, you must of course know what you are doing. “Entrepreneurship is one of the fundamental building blocks for a healthy economy”
Study opportunities for everyone! Not everyone came into the world to become a doctor or teacher for example. Not everyone has the same brain and the same possibilities. But everyone has a talent that can be developed into something great. In order to contribute to everyone’s development, I will make every effort to provide study opportunities for every citizen.
Let’s take hairdresser’s example again. A hairdresser needs basic things like: Customer service / Service orientation / Certainty / A basic course on how to deal with finances.
This can be done very simple by means of specific subject-oriented short training courses and / or courses. This aspect certainly has priority because intelligent citizens become critical, and thus also ensure that society grows in level.
“Study opportunities need to available for every citizen”
